I mostly knew Depeche Mode from their greatest hits, and the night was worth every penny. The Jezabels opened, and I looked them up as soon as I got home. Five songs in the encore, and the band looked like they were enjoying it as much as we were. A year earlier I'd heard Marilyn Manson cover Personal Jesus in this same arena; this time I got the original, and danced through it and Just Can't Get Enough. The arena-scale lighting and screen visuals were a joy too.

Reviewed the same night, their third sold-out O2 show that year. Opening quietly with two new songs instead of the hits was a bold choice that worked, and a montage of dogs on the screen during Precious was oddly moving.
